Vanlandingham Slides in to Top Spot
Emma Vanlandingham riding Mr Vinnie topped the Markel Insurance Novice Horse Non Pro Derby. Run concurrently with the Colston Paving-Not Ruf At All Non Pro Derby, the event is for novice horses who have earned less than $25,000 as of January 1.
Owned by Jason Vanlandingham of Whitesboro, Texas, the 2017 gelding sired by A Sparkling Vintage and out of Miss Hollywood Cee by Wimpys Little Step, scored 218 from the three judge system.
Placing second in the field of 37 head with a score of 217.5 was owner/rider Brianna Anthony of Monahans, Texas and Boujee. The 2017 mare is sired by Magnum Chic Dream and out of Chexanicki by Bueno Chexinic.
Third place went to The Crowd Goes Wildd and owner/rider Jesse Asmussen of Maquaketa, Iowa with a score of 216.5. The 2017 mare is sired by Not Ruf At All and out of Check Your Gun Lady by Dun It Gotta Gun.
