More Information about USEF Youth Qualifying Classes at the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic:
The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) is the National Governing Body for Equestrian Sport in the United States of America. At the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic, we are happy to offer USEF Youth Qualifying Classes. USEF Youth Qualifying classes help junior and young riders qualify for the US National Championship held annually in the three age divisions (13 & Under, 14-18, 19-21). Whilte the ATRC is the proud home of the Open (Adult) National Championships, the site of the next US National Youth Championships is not yet determined.
Requirements to compete in USEF Youth Qualifying classes include USEF Annual Membership for the athlete and USEF Horse Recording of the competing horse. Both of which can be accomplished by clicking the links included here, and should be accomplished prior to arriving at the show. However, we will have memberships on-hand for an up-charge as required by the USEF for the convenience of on-site membership services.
The Federation Equestre International (FEI) is the International Governing Body for Equestrian Sport globally. Young Riders who wish to compete at the International level in the sport can access FEI-level Reining through qualifying for and competing at the FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships which include multiple disciplines and premier-level riders from throughout North America. The United States holds an Official Selection Trial annually to qualify young athletes to compete on behalf of the USA. Currently, athletes are also able qualify instead by merit if they cannot make it the selection trial. Riders who attend USEF Youth Qualifying Classes can be placed on teams for the USA based on region, or in some cases the breed of horse they ride. However, riders who attend the Official Selection Trial are always given priority in placement on USA teams.
More information about USEF and FEI programs for youth and young riders can be found here.
The USEF Youth Qualifying classes at the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic are held concurrently with the youth classes in the same block. Click here to see the USEF Youth Qualifying Classes in the 2012 ATRC Schedule. While these classes are concurrent, they are governed by and held to the standards, rules and regulations of the USEF, including but not limited to drug policies. It is the responsibility of the competitor (and when the competitor is a minor, the responsible person of that competitor) to know, understand and comply with the rules of the USEF when competing in these classes.
Should an interested party have questions about the USEF classes at the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic, send us an e-mail here.
If you have questions about USEF programs in general, please contact the USEF Reining Department by e-mail to Vonita Bowers, director of Reining at the USEF.
