NRHA and Affiliate Classes Pinned in Tulsa

(Tulsa, Okla., Sept. 1, 2016) – The Tulsa Reining Classic awarded its first Affiliate Reining Championship classes in the Super Duty Arena at Expo Square. Along with the affiliate classes the National Reining Horse Association Open and Intermediate Open were shown concurrently. Big stops, fast spins and neat circles were the name of the game Thursday.

Taking top honors in the NRHA Open as well as the ARC Open was Jared Leclair riding Coded N Karma to a score of 148 worth $1,136 for owners Robert and Robbin Thayn.

Coded N Karma is by Electric Code out of Whiz N Snap and made an impressive run in the Super Duty Arena for the win. Leclair and the 5-year-old gelding became partners about three years ago and have collected nearly $35,000.

On Thursday the duo had to deal with unforeseen circumstances as a storm blew threw dumping rain on the Expo grounds right as Leclair and Coded N Karma were about to make their run. The gelding, however, showed no signs of nerves.

“He’s been really good to me, he’s been a good horse to show and it’s just another title we can put on his record,” Leclair said. “It started storming right as I went in and I was [a little worried], but he trotted in and was really good. He turned big both ways, circled really good and I don’t think I’ve ever stopped up the middle while showing – that was a first – but he didn’t care, it didn’t bother him at all. He’s just real easy to show.”

Second in the NRHA Open was Jarvis Anderson riding This Guns For Nic who’s by Nic It In The Bud and out of Katie Gun to a score of 146.

Barbara Williams riding Miss Dual Cee took the win in the NRHA Intermediate Open and ARC Intermediate Open with a score of 146.50 for owner Julie Rodgers.

Miss Dual Cee is by Mister Nicadual out of Sail Away Rene and one of Williams’ favorite things about the mare is her personality.

“She’s just fun. She kind of leans a little bit, but I just pitch her away and fake it,” she said with a laugh. “I don’t try to train on her when I’m showing her. I trust her and because I have her with me all the time I know her so well. I’m very lucky that I get to show her some.”

Taking home the win in the NRHA Limited Open was Mandy Faust riding Paps Last Revolution, to a score of 144.50 for owner Robert Stinner.

Paps Last Revolution is by Einsteins Revolution out of Paps Last Glo and also led Faust to the win in the NRHA Rookie Professional.

Elizabeth Hartin riding Tag A Shining Star took the win in the ARC Limited Open and ARC Rookie Professional with a score of 143.50 for owner Lisa Clark.

Tag A Shining Star is by Whiz N Tag Chex out of Miss Rey O Shine and has been with Hartin for two years and the duo are enjoying their first year showing.

“I’m just thankful for Luke Gagnon and his help, he’s been helping me all week with that horse,” Hartin said. “I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the ride.”
