Tulsa Reining Classic Kicks Off with AQHA and Schooling Classes

The Tulsa Reining Classic, held at the Built Ford Tough Livestock Complex at Expo Square in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is off to a great start. Due to the large growth of the American Quarter Horse Association All Age Reining and Open Schooling class, the TRC added another day at the beginning of the show to accommodate the class that has grown to 218 entries!

The event is busting at the seams, as TRC Stall Supervisor Rosie Ericsson announced that the number of stalls purchased has already exceeded last year’s numbers. “In 2014 we filled 871 stalls. This year, we have already passed the 900 mark, and since this is only the first day of the event, we expect that number to grow as more people arrive,” Ericsson said.

Competition continues Tuesday morning in the Ford Truck Arena with the second section of the AQHA All Age Reining. Action kicks off in the Mustang Arena with the first of the National Reining Horse Association ancillary classes.

Whizkey N Diamonds Novice Horse Open Derby Debuts at Tulsa Reining Classic
The Tulsa Reining Classic has become one of the largest National Reining Horse Association approved events, and annually lands in the association’s top ten. This is made possible by enthusiastic exhibitors, a first-class facility, and an outstanding group of sponsors. Joining the Tulsa Reining Classic family this year is Rhodes River Ranch, which came on board as the naming sponsor of the Whizkey N Diamonds Novice Horse Open Derby on Sunday afternoon.
The novice horse concept is popular.
“With the depth of the horses in the reining horse industry, the novice horse division is the perfect way to recognize that group of participants,” noted Colleen McQuay of the Global Reining Sports Group. She continued, “Rhodes River Ranch has long been a great supporter of the reining industry, and we appreciate their decision to be a part of the Tulsa Reining Classic. Rhodes River Ranch is a visible supporter of our industry across the country, and its stallion Whizkey N Diamonds had a tremendous career and is very popular among our breeding clients. We are thrilled to have him included in the Tulsa Reining Classic/Quarter Horse News Stallion Auction in addition to their sponsorship of the Novice Horse Derby.”
Rhodes River Ranch is dedicated to breeding, raising and training future world champion performance horses and providing customers with top quality services. Located at the foothills of the Cascades, it’s just an hour and a half north of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in beautiful Arlington, Washington.
